# Pricing Recommendations: Set the Right Price with AI

> GetBuilo's Pricing Recommendations engine analyzes your market, competition, and business model to suggest optimal pricing strategies and price points.

Pricing is one of the most consequential decisions you'll make as a founder, and it's one that most early-stage builders get wrong—either by undercharging out of fear or overcharging without the trust to back it up. GetBuilo's Pricing Recommendations engine takes the guesswork out of this decision. It analyzes your competitor pricing, your market positioning, your target customer's willingness to pay, and your chosen business model to recommend a pricing strategy and specific price points that align with both your revenue goals and your market reality.

## How the Pricing Engine Works

The engine draws on three main inputs to build its recommendations:

* **Competitor Benchmarking** — Using data gathered during your Competitor Analysis, the engine maps the pricing landscape in your category. It identifies the price floor (what the cheapest option charges), the price ceiling (what premium players charge), and where the market clusters. This tells you where you have room to compete and where you can command a premium.
* **Market Positioning** — Your pricing signal communicates your position. A lower price signals accessibility; a higher price signals quality and exclusivity. The engine factors in your intended positioning—challenger, premium, or value—and recommends price points that reinforce that message rather than undermine it.
* **Willingness to Pay** — Based on your target customer segment and business model, the engine estimates a willingness-to-pay range. A B2B enterprise buyer tolerates a very different price point than a solo freelancer or a consumer user. The AI calibrates its recommendations accordingly.

## Pricing Models

GetBuilo's Pricing Recommendations engine evaluates five pricing models and recommends the one best suited to your business:

* **One-Time Purchase** — A single upfront payment for lifetime access. Works well for tools, templates, and productized services where ongoing support costs are low.
* **Subscription** — Recurring monthly or annual billing. Ideal for SaaS products, content platforms, or any offering that delivers ongoing value. The engine will recommend whether monthly-only, annual-only, or both tiers make sense.
* **Freemium** — A free tier with paid upgrades. Effective when you need volume to prove value before asking for payment, or when viral growth is part of your acquisition strategy. The engine flags when freemium is risky—specifically when free users are costly to serve.
* **Usage-Based** — Customers pay based on consumption (API calls, messages sent, files processed). Best suited for developer tools, infrastructure products, and platforms where usage varies significantly between customers.
* **Tiered** — Multiple pricing tiers targeting distinct customer segments (e.g., Starter, Pro, Business). The engine recommends tier structure, feature differentiation between tiers, and suggested price points for each.

## What Your Pricing Report Includes

After running the Pricing Recommendations module, you receive a detailed report with:

* **Recommended Pricing Model** — The model the AI believes best fits your business, with a plain-English explanation of why.
* **Recommended Price Ranges** — Specific price ranges for each tier or plan, grounded in competitor benchmarks and willingness-to-pay estimates. For example, for a B2B SaaS product targeting SMBs in the project management space, the AI might recommend a three-tier structure: a Starter plan at $19–$29/month, a Pro plan at $49–$79/month, and a Business plan at $129–$199/month—reflecting the mid-market cluster in that category while leaving room to grow upmarket.
* **Positioning Rationale** — A short explanation of where your recommended price points sit relative to competitors and what signal they send to buyers.
* **Pricing Page Copy Suggestions** — Draft copy for your pricing page, including plan names, feature bullets for each tier, and a recommended CTA label (e.g., "Start Free Trial," "Get Started," "Book a Demo"). This output flows directly into your Website Builder if you use GetBuilo's pricing page template.

## Customizing and Testing Pricing Scenarios

The Pricing Recommendations module isn't a one-way output—it's a sandbox for exploring different strategies:

* **Adjust Your Positioning** — Use the positioning slider to shift between Value, Mid-Market, and Premium. The price range recommendations update in real time so you can see how repositioning affects your suggested price points.
* **Switch Pricing Models** — Toggle between pricing models to see how the same product could be packaged differently. Comparing a subscription model against a usage-based model for the same product can reveal which approach maximizes revenue at your expected usage patterns.
* **Edit Price Points** — Override the AI's recommendations and enter your own price points. The engine will show you how your chosen prices compare to the competitive benchmarks and flag any significant misalignments.
* **Run Scenarios** — Save multiple pricing scenarios (e.g., "Aggressive Growth Pricing" vs. "Premium Positioning") and compare them side by side before committing to a strategy.

<Tip>
Use **price anchoring** deliberately. When you offer multiple tiers, customers evaluate your middle tier against your highest tier—not against your competitors. Place a well-featured but intentionally expensive top tier in your pricing table to make your mid-tier feel like the smart, reasonable choice. The AI's tiered pricing recommendations factor this psychology in by default, but you can amplify the effect by ensuring your top tier is priced at least 2.5x your mid-tier.
