GetBuilo’s website builder lets you go from a brand identity to a live website without touching a line of code. When publishing doesn’t go as planned—whether it’s a site that won’t go live, a custom domain that isn’t connecting, or an SSL error—the issues are almost always resolvable with a few targeted steps. Work through the relevant scenario below to get your site live.
DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours after you update your domain’s records. During this window, your custom domain may resolve inconsistently—working in some locations and not others. This is normal behavior and not a GetBuilo error. Use a tool like dnschecker.org to monitor propagation progress across global DNS servers.
If you click Publish and nothing happens—or you see an error message—there are a few common causes to check.Steps to resolve:
  1. Check for empty required sections. The website builder flags sections that are required but have no content. Review your page layout and fill in any sections marked with a warning indicator.
  2. Check your plan. Website publishing is available on paid plans. If you’re on the Free plan, upgrade to unlock publishing.
  3. Retry the publish. Click Publish again—transient errors sometimes resolve on a second attempt.
  4. Hard refresh and try again. Press Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac) to clear any cached state, then retry publishing.
  5. If the issue persists, contact support via in-app chat and share any error messages you see.
Connecting a custom domain requires updating your DNS records at your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google Domains).Steps to resolve:
  1. In GetBuilo, go to Website → Settings → Custom Domain and copy the DNS values shown—you’ll need to add these at your registrar.
  2. Log in to your domain registrar and navigate to the DNS management section for your domain.
  3. Add or update the following records:
    • A Record: Point your root domain (@) to the IP address shown in GetBuilo.
    • CNAME Record: Point www to the value shown in GetBuilo (typically cname.getbuilo.com).
  4. Save the changes at your registrar.
  5. Return to GetBuilo and click Verify DNS. If propagation is still in progress, the check will fail—this is expected. Check back in a few hours.
  6. Full propagation can take up to 48 hours. Monitor progress at dnschecker.org by searching for your domain.
GetBuilo automatically provisions a free SSL certificate (via Let’s Encrypt) for every custom domain you connect. You don’t need to purchase or upload a certificate manually.Steps to resolve:
  1. SSL provisioning begins automatically once your DNS records have fully propagated and GetBuilo has verified your domain.
  2. Allow up to 1 hour after your domain connects for the SSL certificate to be issued and activated.
  3. During provisioning, your site may show a browser warning like “Connection is not private.” This is temporary—do not share the URL publicly until the certificate is active.
  4. If the SSL error persists beyond 2 hours after DNS propagation is complete, contact support via in-app chat. The team can manually trigger certificate provisioning.
If you publish an update but your live site still shows the previous version, your browser is serving a cached copy of the page.Steps to resolve:
  1. Hard refresh the live site URL: Ctrl+Shift+R (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Shift+R (Mac).
  2. Open the site in an incognito or private browsing window—this bypasses your browser’s cache entirely.
  3. If you’re using a CDN or caching plugin in front of your domain, purge the cache from your CDN dashboard.
  4. If the site still shows old content after all of the above, return to the GetBuilo website builder and click Publish again to force a fresh deployment.
GetBuilo’s website builder generates mobile-responsive layouts by default, but customizations can occasionally break the mobile display.Steps to resolve:
  1. Before publishing, always preview your site using the Mobile Preview toggle in the website builder toolbar. This shows you exactly how the site will look on a mobile device.
  2. If sections appear overlapping, too small, or out of order, try resetting the affected section’s layout to its default settings and re-applying your customizations.
  3. Publish the updated version and test it on an actual mobile device (not just a resized browser window) for the most accurate result.
  4. If the mobile layout is still broken after these steps, contact support via in-app chat with a screenshot of the issue and the device/browser you’re testing on.
If GetBuilo shows a “Domain already in use” or “Domain unavailable” error when you try to connect your domain, the domain is already connected to another GetBuilo project.Steps to resolve:
  1. Check your other GetBuilo projects to see if the domain is connected there. Go to each project’s Website → Settings → Custom Domain to verify.
  2. If the domain is connected to an old or unused project, disconnect it there first: click Remove Domain in that project’s domain settings.
  3. Return to your current project and try connecting the domain again.
  4. If you don’t recognize the project using your domain—or if you no longer have access to it—contact support@getbuilo.com so the team can release the domain from the old project.
