The Business Model Canvas
The Business Model Canvas is a one-page strategic framework made up of nine building blocks that together describe how a company creates, delivers, and captures value. GetBuilo fills in all nine blocks based on your project data, and you can edit each one directly in the interface.Value Proposition
The core reason customers choose you. Describes the problem you solve, the job you help customers do, and the specific benefits you deliver—clearly differentiating you from alternatives.
Customer Segments
The distinct groups of people or organizations you serve. Each segment has different needs, behaviors, and willingness to pay—so GetBuilo helps you define them precisely rather than defaulting to “everyone.”
Revenue Streams
How your business earns money from each customer segment. This block connects directly to your Pricing Recommendations module, pulling in your recommended pricing model and price points.
Cost Structure
The most significant costs involved in running your business model. The AI identifies whether your model is cost-driven or value-driven and flags the key fixed and variable cost categories to plan for.
Key Resources
The critical assets required to deliver your value proposition and operate your business—whether physical, intellectual (IP, data, brand), human, or financial.
Channels
How you reach your customer segments and deliver your value proposition. Covers both marketing channels (how customers discover you) and delivery channels (how they access your product).
Key Partners
The external companies, suppliers, and alliances that help your business model work. The AI identifies where partnerships can reduce risk, lower costs, or provide capabilities you don’t have in-house.
Customer Relationships
The type of relationship you establish and maintain with each customer segment—ranging from self-serve and automated to high-touch, dedicated account management.
Key Activities
The most important things your business must do to make its model work—such as platform development, content creation, sales, or supply chain management.
How GetBuilo Populates Your Canvas
When you open the Business Model module, GetBuilo reads your project’s existing data and fills in a draft canvas automatically:- Your idea description and validation results inform the Value Proposition, Customer Segments, and Key Activities blocks.
- Your market research shapes the Channels and Customer Relationships recommendations.
- Your competitor analysis influences the positioning language in the Value Proposition block.
- Your pricing recommendations populate the Revenue Streams block with your recommended pricing model and price points.
Editing and Customizing Each Block
Every canvas block is fully editable. Click any block to open its editor panel, where you can:- Rewrite the content — Edit the AI’s draft directly. Each block supports rich text so you can use bullet lists, bold key terms, and structure your content clearly.
- Regenerate a block — If the AI’s draft misses the mark, click Regenerate to get a new version based on your current project data. You can regenerate individual blocks without affecting the rest of the canvas.
- Add or remove items — Most blocks support multiple entries. Add new revenue streams, remove a channel that doesn’t apply, or add a key partner the AI didn’t identify.
Exporting and Sharing Your Business Model
Once your canvas reflects your business accurately, you have two options for sharing it:- Export as PDF — Download a formatted, print-ready PDF of your complete canvas. This is ideal for investor meetings, accelerator applications, or co-founder discussions.
- Share via Link — Generate a shareable read-only link that lets anyone view your canvas in a browser without needing a GetBuilo account. You can revoke the link at any time from your project settings.
The Revenue Streams block in your Business Model Canvas is directly connected to the Pricing Recommendations module. When you update your pricing model or price points in Pricing Recommendations, GetBuilo will prompt you to sync those changes to your Business Model Canvas, keeping both modules consistent. You can also trigger a manual sync by clicking Sync from Pricing inside the Revenue Streams block editor.
